Members of Black Forest Chapter #1100 of AARP met on Aug. 11 to work on the chapter’s annual Make a Difference Day project – to cut, sew and tie throws and lap robes for the veterans or their spouses at the Bruce McCandless Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Florence, Colo. When the colorful quilts are finished, they will bear an embroidered message thanking the veteran for his or her service. The quilts will be delivered to the nursing home in October, as the AARP chapter’s recognition of the national day of service.
