It was James Russell Lowell who said, “That best academy, a mother’s knee.” Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” Our society values education as well as the character of those we raise into adulthood. It is the combination of good parenting and education that comes together to make the whole person – one that our community and country values. There will be hundreds of mothers of D 49 children who will cry when they hear “Pomp and Circumstance” later this month. May is a celebration of moms everywhere; and, for moms of graduating seniors, it’s an especially rewarding and happy time watching their child march across the stage to receive their high school diplomas. The moms in our community can be proud of their children. Mothers of the four seniors Natalie Gowen interviewed are no doubt beaming with pride. They are the class leaders, and we showcase two from Falcon High school – Annina McMillan, valedictorian, and Taylor Herbert, salutatorian; as well as Nathaniel Sundquist, valedictorian, and Kristina Sherman, salutatorian from Sand Creek High School. All four students have flourished well in their high school careers while being mindful of providing service to others. They are true examples of good community members and American citizens. The New Falcon Herald team congratulates the class of 2010 and wishes you nothing but success in your future. Your community is proud of you!And happy Mother’s Day!Have a great May and we’ll see you in June.-Deb, Michelle and the NFH team
