The Nov. 11 AARP Chapter #1100 meeting featured a salute to military veterans. Each veteran in attendance placed a hand on the United States flag and gave his name and branch of service. Widows of Servicemen did the same on behalf of their spouses. Each person was given a United States flag and stand.A total of 15 chapter members served in the Army, 12 in the Air Force, four in the Navy, and one each in the Marines and Coast Guard. The program featured Less Bailey, an Air Force veteran who sang patriotic songs.Also at the meeting, four local residents were presented gold AARP Chapter Achievement Awards: Gwen Burk, Chuck and Edna Eaton, and Kay Zvonkovich. Each was recognized for service to the community, support of local chapter activities and the good they have done for others.The Black Forest AARP chapter meets at noon the second Wednesday of each month in the fellowship hall of the Black Forest Lutheran Church, 13455 Black Forest Road.For more information, call 495-3651 or 488-3152.
