Al-anon a helpful resource

Dear Editor,I am very excited to be able to let people in Peyton and surrounding areas know that there is an Al-anon group in our community. Al-anon is a program that offers help to friends and families of alcoholics and addicts. Our meeting is called “Trails East to Serenity.” We are the first group to be formed in this area.Eighteen years ago, I felt there was nowhere and no one to turn to who would understand what my life was like. I was lucky to meet someone special who told me about Al-anon. I was skeptical and didn’t want anyone to know I was going to this kind of meeting, but I was told that one of the most important parts of Al-anon is privacy. The friendly, caring members of Al-anon helped me see there were answers for me if I wanted them. The fellowship, comfort and peace this program has brought changed my life.I would like to offer the same invitation I received years ago to anyone who needs help. We meet Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m. at Peyton Elementary School.Margie HirschPeyton749-9195
