Members of the Falcon Senior Services board and the senior center committee met April 24 to discuss steps needed for the construction of a permanent senior center through grants and fundraising. Committee leaders were selected to investigate the various aspects of the project: Phyllis Anderson and Jerry Medford, building site acquisition; Dorothy Schneekloth and Marie and Ron Hein, building design; Nick and Bev Ordon, grant writing; Nancy Bishop, Betty Medford, Charlotte Akmenkalus and Beverly Kelty, fund raisers; Wilma Whitney and Cokie Stull, donations; Dru Wilson and Gloria McCroskey, publicity. Volunteers from the membership will sign up to serve on committees at the May luncheon and meetings will begin in June.An anonymous $2500 pledge will start the process and many fund raisers are planned. A bake sale will be held May 31 beginning at 9 a.m. in front of Wal-Mart and a yard sale is scheduled for June 28 behind Farmers State Bank from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other events planned are a Back-To-School style show, an antique car show and a cookbook that should be ready for Christmas giving.
