Woodmen Valley Chapel’s New Community Center

With a vision to “launch and strengthen a fleet of Christ-following communities,” the ministry of Woodmen Valley Chapel (WVC) in eastern El Paso County is growing. The thriving WVC Liberty community, which meets at Liberty High School, is relocating to the Woodmen Heights Community Center on East Woodmen and Marksheffel Roads when construction is completed in October.Mike Byrd, the pastor for Woodmen Heights, reported that the first service in the new community center will be held on Sat., Oct. 24. Services will take place on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.To celebrate the grand opening of the new facility, Woodmen Heights will host a family-style picnic and youth concert, featuring the band “Every Day Sunday,” on Sun., Oct. 25. Woodmen Heights will open with youth programs in place; future plans include a worship center (comparable to the Rockrimmon Community at 250 East Woodmen Rd.) and baseball and soccer fields adjacent to the community center. On July 27, the city of Colorado Springs annexed the Woodmen Heights property, which is located at the northeast corner of the re-alignment of Woodmen and Marksheffel Roads. WVC owns 50 acres in Woodmen Heights, with an option for an additional 64 acres. The optional 64 acres north of the community center may one day be home to an international ministry center. Discussions are underway between WVC and several para-church ministries and missions’ organizations to develop strategic ministry partnerships, which combine organizations to further impact the local community and global communities as well. For more information, contact Pastor Mike Byrd at (719) 599-8652 for more details.
