The Woodmen Hills Parks and Recreation Department recently received grant funding for their parks and trail system from two sources: an El Paso County Urban Grant for $25,000 and the Conservation Trust Fund of Colorado for $27,897. With those funds, they were able to upgrade three parks in the Woodmen Hills community. The park at Community Center West and Balcon Memorial Park each received one picnic shelter, two picnic tables and two trash receptacles. Horseshoe Park received three fitness stations, which can be added to the trail system route in the near future. The same grant donors allowed the Park and Recreation Department to build a playground in the summer of 2008.”We are excited to have these additions for El Paso County residents for their enjoyment,” said Eddie Avedikian, Woodmen Hills Park and Recreation manager.
