The Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District has hired a professional recreation planning consultant to help determine the residentsí expectations for the recreation centers. Ken Ballard, planning consultant and president of Ballard King and Associates, introduced himself to attendees at a Woodmen Hills community meeting Aug. 22 at Woodmen Hills Elementary School.Ballard asked attendees to list their main concerns and also suggestions for possible solutions. He did not answer questions, but stated that he will review the information collected at this meeting and subsequent meetings; and eventually make recommendations to the board.Many attendees cited the lack of communication between the Woodmen Hills board of directors and the community. They also expressed concerns about the accessibility and availability of the recreation centersí amenities, including the indoor pool at the Recreation Center East.ìWe have identified a lot of issues,î Ballard said. ìSome require significant changes to one or both recreation centers.îMeridian Ranch addressing pool issuesSimilar complaints, many focused on the indoor pool hours, have been voiced by residents of Meridian Ranch, which prompted an Aug. 3 community meeting to address those concerns. According to the August 2016 Meridian Ranch newsletter, the district is ìattempting to balance a variety of requestsî and remain within its budget.
