Winning big for a big cause

A big congratulations to Martin (Bud) and Martha Kucera of Elbert for winning the St. Jude house campaign/fundraiser. Their brand new beautiful home is in the Banning Lewis Ranch.Bud at one time was the fire chief of the Falcon Fire Protection District, and Martha was a member of the auxiliary.They have been donating to St. Judeís for many years. ìFor the past seven years, we have bought tickets for the raffle, so at $100 each ticket, we bought a home for $700.î And what a home! The 4,400 square-foot home by Covington Homes is valued at $560,000 and has five-bedrooms and four baths and a Chefís kitchen, featuring Bosch appliances. ìWe will be selling the home,î Martha said. They donít want to give up their 5 acres. The home in Banning Lewis is huge but it has a small lot. ìWe just hope that someone will love the home as much as we do,î she said. ìThis home is for someone who wants a beautiful home and a small lot for easy outside maintenance.îTo the Kuceras, the contest is all about the children. They have been entering the drawing from the time St. Jude started the fundraiser. ìWe fully believe in what they do,î Martha said. ìWe do it for the children.îThere were 9,250 tickets sold for this house ó anyone in the U.S. who is 18 years or older can purchase a ticket. St. Judeís runs 44 national campaigns for the homes in different areas of the county each year. The next home in Colorado is in Aurora Green Valley Ranch.
