Vista Ridge High School will host an open house Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. VRHS is at 6888 Black Forest Road. The school will open the 2008-2009 school year to ninth and tenth grade students only. A ribbon cutting ceremony, superintendent remarks, awards presentation and tours will take place during the morning’s activities. The school was built using “green” guidelines developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the second in D 49 to use such standards. Vista Ridge is home to several niche programs including an Engineering Academy, Biomedical Academy, Information Technology Academy, Civil Air Patrol, Positive Behavior Support Program, Advanced Placement Courses and an Advisory Program.
