Sweet Adelines International’s Velvet Hills Show Chorus launches an annual four-week membership drive beginning Jan. 11. The award-winning chorus has been singing and performing in Colorado Springs for more than 40 years. Great opportunities are available to women who join during the month of January, including a free trial membership and free vocal coaching.Musical knowledge is not necessary – voice training and music education are valuable components of each member’s benefits. Women of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of directors and musical leaders. Velvet Hills has a membership of more than 100 women, who perform throughout the community at civic events and charitable functions, while promoting harmony and friendship among women.Membership also includes discounts on sheet music, CDs, videos, books, brochures, merchandise and international convention registration, as well as a free subscription to “The Pitch Pipe” and other relevant newsletters. Velvet Hills is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to educating its members in the art of singing four-part harmony, barbershop style. Its motto is “Harmonize the World.”The chorus meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at 3675 B Jeannine Drive in Colorado Springs.
