My husband and I have been dating since the 11th grade – that’s a lot of dates. Here’s a “married date” that could be considered a disaster. Our three children were staying at their grandparents’ house, so we decided to go to dinner and a movie. We went to a restaurant on Powers Boulevard., but there was an hour-and-a-half wait, which would make us late for the movie. We decided to try an out-of-the-way Chinese buffet my husband’s co-worker recommended. After 10 minutes and churning stomachs from the cold, soggy food, we opted to pay our bill and leave. To wash down the bad taste, we stopped at a deli. While heading to the theater, we decided to get tickets early because many of the movies sold out, but we discovered that only front-row seats were vacant. As the movie started, we noticed a teenage couple spread across a couple of the seats next to us – they were engrossed in passion. That’s OK; I understand; I was young once. However, they were slurping and whispering sweet nothings to each other during the entire three-hour movie. My husband and I looked at each other several times to question if we should say anything, but we bit our tongues. Nobody ever chided us at the movies when we were teenagers. We laughed all the way home at our comedy of errors. This just goes to show that even a bad date can be a good date when you are in love!
