The New Falcon Herald has been working to stay on top of the Falcon Park-n-Ride situation. As we have previously noted, the Park-n-Ride has been under the auspices of the county since its inception. A few months ago, a transition took place in which the county transferred “ownership” of the Park-n-Ride to the city. For a time, however, we were unable to determine which entity was responsible, as we were directed back and forth between the city and the county.
Meanwhile, Falcon residents contacted us seeking answers to problems associated with the Park-n-Ride, including abandoned vehicles and litter. After Jason Caspersen of Falcon contacted me, he and I both reached out to the city and the county. After several attempts, we received a response from the city. The response sent to Jason was more detailed, so the following email is what he received. This should help clarify the situation for everyone.
“I am sorry that you have been bounced between EPSO and CSPD. The Park N’ Ride property is on the exact border between the County and the City and that occasionally confuses staff. To hopefully clear that up, our CSPD Communications Center Manager has added a BOLO, or note to any call screen generated, for that location that the parking lot is, in fact, CSPD, CSFD, and AMR’s responsibility for emergency response.
Regarding general maintenance, the County transferred responsibility and ownership of this to the City in early November. Mountain Metro Transit is in the process of updating its existing maintenance contract to include this facility presently and that process should be completed in January or February of 2026. Once the contract is in place, they will develop a plan for ongoing maintenance needs.
As for potential abandoned vehicles, in the City that is the responsibility of our Neighborhood Services Division, not CSPD. They can be reached at (719) 444-7891. They went out last night and made contact with the owner of the White Hyundai and he will be moving the vehicle tonight.
I hope this helps fill in the blanks of whose responsibility all of these concerns fall under.”
