Two from Falcon sign college letters of intent

The presidential caucuses were not the only nationwide event taking place this week. Across the country, hundreds of high school athletes were signing letters of intent to attend the colleges of their choice, and Falcon High School was no exception. On Feb. 6, friends and families gathered at the Falcon High School library to watch Keenen Ballage and Brenden Condon sign their letters of intent. Athletic Director Andy Franko welcomed everyone and congratulated Ballage and Condon on their success. Ballage signed with Colorado State University on a track scholarship while Condon signed with Western State in Gunnison on a football scholarship. Both boys are multi-sport athletes. Ballage gained over 2,400 yards as the star running back of the Falcons, but he also claimed the state 4A 100-meter dash champion. He said, “Both sports go hand in hand.” Ballage will try to walk on at CSU in football, said Reggie Ballage, his father. “He’s also an A-B student,” said his mother, Lavonda. “We couldn’t ask for anymore.”In addition to starring on defense for the Falcon football team, Brenden Condon is wrestling for the Falcons in the 215-pound class, where he is a team leader in their winning season. “I got looks from several teams in both sports, but I really love football,” Brenden said. He plans to concentrate on that sport at Western State.
