Tree planting workshop in Black Forest

The Colorado State Forest Service will conduct a free workshop on planting tree seedlings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at the Black Forest Community Club, 12530 Black Forest Road, Black Forest. The workshop will cover the species that do best in the Black Forest, Falcon and Peyton areas; planting techniques; windbreak design; and tips on how to successfully grow trees from seedlings. The Forest Service offers seedling trees at production cost to the owners of a minimum two acres of land. The trees may not be resold or used for landscaping. The Forest Service also sells tree planting accessories, such as water-absorbing polymer, weed barrier and rabbit protectors. For more information on the program, see the Forest Service’s Web site at http://csfs.colostate.edu/nursery.htm or call 719-687-2921.
