Living tiny is a big deal. Tiny Houses, small living spaces usually built on trailer chassis, are growing more popular each year, as people decide to decrease their footprint on natural resources, save money and stay mobile to take advantage of work and recreational opportunities. The 2015 Tiny House Jamboree held at the Museum of Mining and Industry in northern Colorado Springs drew more than 40,000 visitors. The second jamboree will be held Aug. 5 through Aug. 7.This year’s jamboree will build on the first oneís success. ìWe’ll have twice as many tiny houses on display; we have 42 coming this year,î said Coles Whalen, marketing manager. ìThat means the lines will be half as long. We will also have twice as many vendors showcasing ways to aid this lifestyle. Overall, the event will be much larger ñ- and ëtinier.íî Access and parking for the event will be more controlled than the free-spirited method at last yearís jamboree. ìThere is no parking on-grounds this year,î Whalen said. ìWe partnered with Current on Woodmen Road to have off-site parking at their lot and surrounding fields, with shuttles running every 15 minutes. That will make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone.îMany nationally known figures in the ìTinyî movement will be speaking at the event, including hosts of cable television shows ìTiny House Buildî and ìTiny House Nation.î Workshops on organizing oneís ìstuffî in tiny houses, how to go off grid and ways to earn a living with a mobile lifestyle will be held throughout the jamboree.A ìKids Corner,î with activities specifically for the younger audience, will be part of the event as well.Tickets to the event are available in advance through http://tinyhousejamboree.com, and will also be available at the gate. Single-day passes are $15, and three-day passes are available at a discount. ìWe’ll also have several free ticket giveaways on our social media channels, and kids under 12 are free,î Whalen said.
