Falcon spring sports are up and running … quite literally. Track and Field had their first meet on March 12 at Harrison High School and will continue to have meets every weekend at numerous places throughout the months of March and April. With a huge turnout on the first day of practice track should be highly successful and possibly spring up a few state qualifiers.Baseball is in full swing and off to a great start with a 7-7 tie against Manitou Springs High School the first game of the season. Leadership is key among the senior captains, they are expected to be very competitive this year. They have been working hard after school on and off since early August. Junior Varsity baseball is on fire this season as well with a remarkable 30 to 5 win over Manitou, after the third inning! The next big game is a home game on April 2 against Widefield.Two other spring sports not associated with Falcon are tennis and soccer. Even though Falcon does not offer either one of these sports, the girls interested in playing will travel to Sand Creek to play.Even though the rackets are swinging and tennis balls are flying in practice, the tennis team has had a difficult time actually playing a match. Snow has caused numerous delays and postponements thus far. Hopefully, the weather will calm down so the tennis team can show what they’re made of.Soccer, however, will play in sun or snow. The team is currently undefeated with a 1-0 win over Pueblo East. Many girls participate in Sand Creek athletics, but still show their Falcon Pride when they’re on the field and on The spring seasons have just begun so be prepared for some competitive spirit to shine through these next few months.
