Be environmentally responsible and support the community by recycling Christmas trees at one of seven locations throughout El Paso County. This is the last weekend – Jan. 6 and Jan. 7. For those who drop off their trees, there is a suggested tax deductible donation of $5 per tree, which goes to support youth sports programs throughout the county. The following locations, except Rocky Top Resources, will be open both weekends 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.:

  • Baptist Road Trailhead – Baptist Road & Old Denver Road
  • Cottonwood Creek Park – Dublin Boulevard & Montarbor Drive
  • Verizon Complex – 30th Street and Garden of the Gods Road
  • Memorial Park – Union Boulevard & Pikes Peak Avenue

Hours of operation are: Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and closed Sundays.Last season 3,420 trees were recycled – a small fraction of the trees sold. In an effort to increase that amount, the county this year added a site in the eastern part of the county at the Falcon Trailhead. The trees are ground up into mulch, which is made available free of change at all seven sites to any resident of the county on a self-service basis, while supplies last.
