Happy New Year! It’s that time of year again: time for a fresh start, a clean slate. What will this year bring for you? What are your plans?Whatever the New Year holds for you, remember that, although the New Year is not a veil of the impossible lifted, it can be whatever you want it to be, but you have to work hard to achieve your goals.
Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory. – Albert Schweitzer
There is nothing wrong with starting over or making those needed changes, but you do need to be honest with yourself and your goals.Take time to evaluate your plans and decide where you want to be and in what kind of time frame. What changes need to be made to improve the aspects of your life that you think need to be changed? Work these evaluations into the specific resolutions that you want to make.Be specific with your goals. Too many people make promises to themselves that are too difficult to keep. Take things one step at a time. Break your goals down into smaller, more readily achievable goals: one cigarette less a day, five pounds to lose (as opposed to 25). Be fair to yourself; you don’t want to set yourself up to fail. Those most successful at achieving their goals say that it is best to write down the things you want to achieve and how you want to do it. Writing it down helps you to own it, making the goal more real to you. You can also jot down your progress.A resolution can be a very powerful tool. At the very least, you’ve acknowledged that there is something in your life you’d like to challenge. Even if the resolution gets broken, you can always re-evaluate it and decide if you need to revise your plan.Palmer Chiropractic494-1395www.palmer-chiropractic.com
