The Challenger Learning Center of Colorado Springs is one of 51 Challenger Learning Centers in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., and the first in an eight-state radius. It is a space-based learning environment where schoolchildren, families, senior citizens, corporate teams and other community members fly simulated space missions.Members of the Challenger Learning Center crew recently participated in Space Week at the Capitol in Denver. Governor Bill Owens and Lieutenant Governor Jane Norton spoke to a group of military and space related industry personnel during the speical week of activities. Lt. Gov. Jane Norton said, “The state of Colorado is certainly the place for space, and we are designating this week to commemorate the more than 113,000 industry personnel and over 14,000 government employees who work in the space industry in our state. With revenues of approximately $4 billion each year, Colorado has the fourth largest space economy in the nation.Registration for the 2004/2005 school year is now in progress. Various summer camps will be held beginning June 14, running through July 23.
