If you would like to have your water tested, stop by the El Paso County Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Office at 305 So. Union Blvd. and pick up a sample bottle. Take it home, collect the sample and bring it back to the office. Normally, the charge for testing is about $40, according to a county news release. However, the county (on a first-come, first-serve basis) will test the well for $15. Results from the lab will be mailed, and a public meeting will be held when all the results are in.The El Paso County Water Testing Program is designed to help residents test their water and learn about water quality. The county recommends testing every four years. The water is tested for nitrate-nitrogen, sulfate-sulfur, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, manganese, fluoride, total dissolved solids, total hardness, electrical conductivity, water pH, water quality ratings and interpretations. For more information, contact the El Paso County CSU extension office or Gary Hall at 719-636-8920.
