As a former student of Falcon High School, the constant changes to educational plans are exhausting. Although Colorado school districts must now revise their standards to meet the Common Core, I fear the district will become susceptible to a host of programs with claims to improve studentsí test scores. In reality, it is the perpetual shifts in curriculum and expectations that have stalled the districtís progress. District 49 has jumped on almost every possible education bandwagon over the last eight years. The constant shuffle of priorities has caused damage to studentsí long-term education. The preparation I received for my college career from School District 49 has been sub-par to that of my classmates. Even with promises of professional development, teachersí expectations will be rewritten and the ambiguity will transfer to the classroom. Improving education by implementing proven strategies overtime is essential to success. But, with this impending change, I ask that it become a firm grounding for education in the future. Otherwise, District 49 will simply be an unorganized academic realm that has refused to embrace the positive aspects of consistency amongst educational chaos.Megan BrooksDenver (formerly of Falcon)
