Stolen Moose

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the October 2004 Falcon Limelight article and pictures by writer Alicia Littlejohn regarding Doug Jacobsen and his Country Shadows. He’s a very talented individual and can be proud of his creations.About a year and a half ago, we purchased some black lawn-shadow ornaments in the form of a Momma moose and two baby moose. They looked so at-home in our front yard, and we enjoyed them every single day.The moose came to become a part of our family — flowers around them in the summer time, pumpkins near them in the fall, and red bows on them come the Christmas holidays. They were lots of fun.A couple weeks ago, the moose were stolen from our yard. Someone walked up to within six feet of our home, carefully pulled them out of the ground, and took them away.We reported the theft to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department, and, yes, we know, we aren’t the first, and unfortunately probably won’t be the last. The moose can be replaced — that’s not the issue. It’s just very, very sad, indeed, when someone has to resort to invading someone else’s home and property and taking what doesn’t belong to them.Jim and Mary Eves
