High Plains Little League is gearing up for the 2014 spring baseball season. Registrations are open at http://highplainsll.com.HPLL is offering a Little League intermediate division (50/70 field) for 2014. Ages 11 through 13 are eligible. The intermediate division offers the players transitional play from the majors (46/60 field) to the 60/90 fields. The advance skill player will compete at the district, sectional, regional and World Series levels. †Transitioning to a larger field gives players two extra years to develop skills for full rules baseball. Little League has amended its resident eligibility requirements to allow children to play in the league located within the boundaries of their school. To verify enrollment, parents must bring an official school document such as a report card or school enrollment form for the current academic year, dated before Oct. 1, 2013.HPPL will offer scholarships on a first-come, first-serve basis for eligible players in the district. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be qualified to participate in the National School Lunch program or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program. At the time of registration, the player must provide proof of eligibility for the scholarship. Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.
