Girls’ soccerSoccer: a sport that often gets looked over in the United States, but it’s just started to make a name for itself in Falcon. With a first-year coach, Cynthia Jorgensen, the Falcon girls’ soccer team is looking to get dirty on the field. The more grass stains, the better. In the last year, Melissa Ninemire was the strongest player and Amanda Lindsey was the leading scorer; both are returning to the team and have set goals with the new coach and the rest of their team. “The goals for the soccer team this year are to continue to grow and improve as a program,” Jorgensen said. “This is our second year as a program, so we want to prepare ourselves for league play next year by getting to the post season this year and being successful in the games we play. It is hard to know exactly where we are at, since we don’t have a league to play in this year.” Boys’ baseball“Take me out to the ball game, take me out to crowd, buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks…” everyone knows the song; baseball is America’s past time and has been a comfort to many generations. The Falcon baseball team is setting goals high. Coach Sean Sloan says, “We want to continue to improve as a program and develop into a playoff caliber team.” With returning players Andrew Glauvitz, Joe Vela, Dan Pezdirtz and Garrett Shunk the Falcons are aiming for the fence and looking to knock this season out of the park! This column does not necessarily represent the views of The New Falcon Herald.
