For one summer weekend only – July 21, July 22 and July 23 – the Forest Edge Gardens, the private garden of Tim and Laura Spear at 12285 Lindsey Dr. in Colorado Springs, will be open to the public. There are four acres of gardens, including flowers, trees, shrubs, vegetables and herbs; innovative composting and mulching techniques; and unusual woodworks: gates, benches, birdbaths, gazebos and fencing. The gardens have been featured on national television. The viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.The $4 entrance fee will benefit the Wild Forever Foundation, a local nonprofit wildlife rescue organization. Go 1.5 miles to Shoup Road and turn right. Go 1.1 miles to Lindsay Lane and turn right. Go to the end of the lane, park on the lane, and enter the garden through the Moon Gate.
