Southern Maid Donuts is adding a new location off Stetson Hills Boulevard. Opening during the week of June 23, a grand opening is in the works for July. Owner Jerry Dupree said that should give them time to work out any kinks.The Stetson Hills location will have a few different options than the Falcon store. ìWe will have a drive-thru and an espresso machine,î Dupree said, adding that the electrical system in the Falcon store cannot handle an espresso machine. The kitchen was also custom-built at the new location,and in Falcon they had to work with existing equipment. By building the new store,Dupree said they will be able to add a ìhotî donut feature. Dupree hopes to have a sign advertising hot donuts, like Krispy Kreme. He said the menu will remain the same as the Falcon store.Dupree said they plan on having longer hours at the new store because of higher traffic at that location: hours are 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. with longer hours possible on the weekends. Dupree said if the new location does well, he plans to open more Southern Maid donut shops around Colorado Springsin the coming years.
