The girls’ softball team has had an amazing season and an outrageous record. The varsity girls, coached by Shawnte Sloan, have had a record of 14 wins and 4 losses; they took third in Colorado Springs 4A Metro conference and made it to the district playoffs. The girls have improved over the season and have learned to work together to reach the top.Not only does varsity have an awesome record, but they have received many rewards. Players Ally Goniea, Brittany Howington, Winter Anderson, Breann Parker and Miranda Lyndes have made the Colorado Springs All League team. Sami Oliphant received honorable mention, and Miranda Lyndes has gotten Colorado Springs All League Freshman of the year.They made it to the district play off’s on Oct. 14. “We beat Regis High School in our first game and lost to the two-time defending state champs Pueblo West High School in a tough game 0-4,”said Shawnte Sloan, softball head coach. There are high hopes for next season, but next year they will lose five starting seniors. They will have to work extra hard and train vigorously to fill in the void.”Next season is going to be a real challenge; we are graduating five seniors this year! Which is the whole infield and center Sami Oliphant. I believe that we have the talent from JV to fill these positions, and I know that coach has a plan to get us in great shape to kick some butt,” said Amber Wilmore, junior at Falcon High.The girls have done an extraordinary job this season, and there is no doubt the lady falcons can take down anything.
