On Feb. 5, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Falcon Elementary School Honor Choir will hold a silent auction to raise money for their trip to Carnegie Hall in New York City. The choir needs approximately $60,000 to make the trip expenses.Valerie Cherry, organizer of the auction and mother of 10-year-old choir member Brice Cherry, said the auction will be the main fundraiser for the trip. The auction, which will be held at the Antler Creek Golf Club in Woodmen Hills, will include dozens of valuable items donated by area merchants and individuals. The honor choir, which is comprised of more than 30 members, will perform at the silent auction at 2 p.m. Over 70 items have been donated so far, and more are welcome.Mark and Cathy Wittrup, owners of C&M Llamas, have donated a three-year-old llama, La Femme, whose value is $2,000. La Femme has excellent bloodlines; her grandfather, Maverick, sold for $150,000 in the 1980s. The winning bidder, if he or she chooses, also will receive free stud service to any of C&M’s grand champion studs (a $500 to $2000 value) and instruction on the care and feeding of llamas from Cathy Wittrup (normally $100 per hour). Llamas make great pets and are used as pack animals and fiber producers. La Femme’s starting bid will be $200. Cathy Wittrup said, “Even though our kids are grown, we still think it’s so important to support the schools.”Other highlights of the auction include the following:- $1,000 worth of flooring from Pioneer Flooring- A custom made earring and necklace set from The Prairie Jewel- Golf passes from Antler Creek Golf Club- An autographed John Elway football helmet from Broadway Jewelry and Pawn- An electric grill and an electric smoker from Mountain View Electric- Luxury lighting from Boyd Lighting- Certificates for services at Tire World- A 16 x 20 inch art print by Notable Images- An eight-week summer session of dance lessons from The Dance Center- A weather vane from Don’s Garden Shop- Multiple gift basketsFor a complete list of auction items and descriptions, log on to the choir’s Web site at www.feschoir.teamwebhost.net.
