With six companies providing a wide range of services in the Falcon area, there are no excuses to break one’s resolve to streamline his or her trash issues. The following companies offer a variety of plans.Bestway Disposalwww.bestwaydisposal.com719-633-8709Rates: 15 different levels of service ranging from $14.75 to $28.50Recycling: $5 additional charge, which includes a 64 gallon tote; no sorting; accepts cardboard, junk mail and magazines, aluminum, tin, brown paper bags, office paper, paperboard, empty aerosol cans, glass bottles and jars, phone books, newspaper, steel cans, plastics (No. 1-7)Neighborhoods with contracted services: Parkside at Woodmen HillsAdditional information: A family and locally owned business since 1950, Bestway also is a member of the Better Business Bureau. Senior discounts are available; drivers will return cans to the house and try to contact customers if they forget to put trash out on collection day.Dan’s Trash Service719-683-6700Rates: $22.52 one can weekly service, $18 every other week, $15 once a month, $30 per month for weekly service and a 96 gallon toterRecycling: Weekly service at no extra charge and no sorting; customers bag items, no toter is provided; accepts phone books, junk mail and magazines, steel cans, glass bottles, aerosol cans, office paper, aluminum cans, foil, cardboard, brown paper bags, newspapers, paperboard, batteries, plastics (No. 1-7)Neighborhoods with contracted services: One of the few trash companies servicing Peyton, Ellicott, and Calhan; contracts with the town of Simla, South Fork subdivision and Mustang Meadow subdivision. Dan’s also provides service in Falcon, east of Meridian Road.Additional information: Dan’s Trash offers senior and military discounts. They hire local drivers who attempt to contact customers if the trash is not set out on collection day. Appliance pick-up, including refrigerators with Freon, is available by calling the main office. Twice a year, Dan’s Trash provides roll-out containers and dumpsters to service areas for larger debris and garbage.Rocky Mountain Disposalwww.rockymntdisposal.com719-492-2050Rates: Standard monthly rates range from $18 to $20; preferred provider rates are $12 to $15 per month and are available through contracted homeowners associations.Recycling: only available through the preferred provider program; no extra charge; accepts No. 2 plastics, aluminum and newspaper. Customers must sort and bag; weekly pick-up.Neighborhoods with contracted services: Woodmen Hills (filings No. 1-10 and 11), Meridian Ranch and Paintbrush Hills.Additional information: Contracts with HOAs create a uniform trash collection day, which helps beautify the neighborhood and decrease large truck traffic through the residential streets. In addition to their residential program, they provide trash and recycling service to Falcon School District 49. Recycle bins are available for public use at most school sites.Waste Managementwww.wm.com719-632-8877Rates: For local rates and service areas, call 719-632-8877Recycling: In 2001, Waste Management became the first major solid waste company to focus on residential single-stream recycling, allowing customers to mix recyclable paper, plastic and glass in one bin. Single-stream recycling has increased recycling rates as much as three times the amount of recyclable materials.Additional information: Along the Front Range, Waste Management’s residential single stream recycling is processed at their Denver plant.
