The Colorado Springs SCORE chapter is offering a four-hour workshop designed to answer the basic questions for military personnel who are considering leaving the service and starting a small business. The presentation includes discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of starting from scratch, purchasing a franchise or buying an existing business. While this information is an important first step, it does not replace the need to seek legal and accounting advice for concerns unique to an individual business. Workshop registration takes place through the Family Support Center at each base or post. Workshop cost is $15 per participant. Military personnel wishing additional information prior to contacting family services may call the SCORE office at 636-3074.Programs at the following military facilities begin promptly at 8 a.m. and end at noon.Fort CarsonFeb. 7May 9August 8Nov. 14Peterson Air Force BaseFeb. 1May 3Aug. 2Nov. 1Schriever Air Force BaseFeb. 14May 23Aug. 29Nov. 7SCORE consists of a group of experienced business people, many still active in their own businesses, who want to help make the business climate in Colorado Springs successful.
