The Upper Black Squirrel Groundwater Management District Board denied George Schubert’s request to call in priority water rights and close 21 agriculture wells.Schubert cited dwindling water capacities, which could cause the closure of his business, as the reason for the request.In a Sept. 9 Ranchland News article, Kathy Hare, UBS board member said board members reviewed engineering reports and testimony for a month before making the decision. In Hare’s opinion, Schubert’s lawyers did not prove there was a “well-to-well injury.”
