The Black Forest Educational Opportunity Foundation awarded a scholarship of $1,500 to four El Paso County seniors. The students were honored at a May banquet at the Black Forest Community Center.This is the first year the foundation expanded its geographic area to include School Districts 20, 38 and 49. The foundation has provided the scholarships since 1965.Falcon High School senior Alyssa Boucher was among the recipients. Alyssa will attend West Texas A & M to pursue a degree in agribusiness. She has been active in 4 H and served as a mentor to younger children. Alyssa is bringing her horse to college as well.Amanda Daniel of Lewis Palmer High School, Dani Flynn and Dan Jaynes of Pine Creek High School also received the scholarships.Each applicant provided an essay, letters of recommendation, SAT and/or ACT scores and transcripts of their high school classes and grades and interviewed with the foundation.
