Safety Tip

Halloween is meant to be scary in a fun way, not a ìcall 911î way. Here are some quick tips to keep Halloween safe and enjoyable.

  • Dried flowers, cornstalks and crepe paper catch fire easily. Keep all decorations away from open flames and other heat sources like light bulbs or heaters.
  • Use battery-operated lights instead of candles in jack-o-lanterns.
  • When choosing costumes, avoid long trailing fabric that can cause trips and falls or catch fire if it comes too close to a lit candle or active fire pit.
  • Make sure masks do not obstruct vision.
  • Accompany children while trick-or-treating, and be extra cautious crossing streets at dusk and after dark.
  • Extinguish all candles prior to going to bed.
  • Do not drink and drive or toke and drive.
