  • Rumor has it that military base closings in California may be the reason developers in the Springs continue to build. Military personnel may relocate here.
  • Powers Boulevard is slated for more development and an extension. The Black Forest News published an extensive overview of the plans in the Jan. 13 edition. Rumored to be eyeing the corridor is Wal Mart, looking to establish a neighborhood grocery store further north, separate from the super center that already exists on Powers.
  • Kohl’s and Lowe’s are also talking about a second Powers Boulevard store. Gordman’s, a women’s clothing store chain, with a store in Widefield, is considering a move toPowers Boulevard – as well as another movie theatre.

  • The Falcon Fire Department will be relocating due to the widening of Highway 24
  • Employees of the Colorado Department of Transportation told an NFH writer that Wal Mart is trying to buy the land at the eastern end of Woodman Road to build a store.
  • We heard the county has “on the books” 24,000 new homes designed for eastern El Paso County
