A secret candidateRumor has it that a new candidate for Sheriff Terry Maketaís job, up for grabs next November, will surface within the next 30 days. It seems that a group of people in the eastern portion of the county are supporting this surprise person because they have no confidence in the current candidates. Given the drama that has already surrounded the candidates (like the case of the missing personnel file on candidate Bill Elder ñ word has it someone stole it; or the hoopla around former sheriff John Anderson running again), a newbie could be a breath of fresh air. By the way, the person in question is backed by money ñ lots of it ñ and, once legalizing marijuana passed, he (yes, he) supported county wide retail establishments for marijuana. Boys: Put that in your pipe and smoke it!Star gazingRumor has it that an astronomical observatory is in the plans for Falcon. An anonymous Coloradoan has donated money to build and equip the facility and is working with an educational research group to bring the project to fruition. Certainly, Falcon is a great place to view the stars, the planets and maybe a few UFOs. Who knows?
