Dear Editor,After reading your article in the last issue of The Falcon Herald, I became aware for the first time about the impending demolition of the Green Bridge near Peyton.Along with many others, I have enjoyed having this landmark as a piece of our local heritage as well as the aesthetic appeal it provides to us here on the prairie. In light of that, I have begun an ìeleventh hourî attempt to do what I can to preserve its existence.Currently, I am working to see if the bridge can have an adaptive reuse at a site not far from its present-day location and where it is highly visible from Highway 24. However, I will not be able to accomplish this on my own.My letter is in hopes of gaining support from your readers, either in the form of volunteering time to help in raising funds toward this effort, or in a monetary pledge. It is up to us local area residents to care enough to do something now, before it is too late. I believe this is a great opportunity to join together as a community, build relationships, and see something good happen that will benefit all those who live in the area. A one-hour meeting is scheduled at the Peyton Elementary cafeteria on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. Please contact me for further information.Desiree Schultzdesireeschultz@q.com
