Popular band lends support to local nonprofit

A Calhan, Colo.-based band, Chute Nine, is making its mark nationwide in the country music scene. Polaris Project Limited, a new nonprofit in the southern Colorado region, is busy making its mark in violent crime prevention and victim services. The two have joined forces to sponsor concert and dance to help raise money for Polaris’ efforts in fighting violence and victimization against women.Chute Nine has toured extensively over the past two years, becoming a nationally well-known band. Chute Nine’s “ranch-rocking country” – a rollicking, high-energy mix of new country and exuberant arena rock – is continuing to win fans across America. They take the rich tradition of country music and blend it with a rip-roaring sound. Despite their grueling schedule, which includes tours and a new CD, Chute Nine’s belief in Polaris’ cause has brought them back to Colorado Springs. PPolaris Project Limited is a nonprofit community crime prevention and victim services outreach targeting women of all ages. Its mission is to arm women with the knowledge and strength to keep themselves safe by offering new and innovative programs and services to the community. The majority of the programs are fully funded by outside sources. From the Canine Crusaders program to the Date and Acquaintance Rape Prevention classes for young women, this organization is dedicated to eradicating female victimization. The two highly motivated groups have united to help raise money and awareness for a moving cause. With a fresh new approach to fundraising, this event promises to be a roof-raising good time. The benefit concert and dance will be held at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium on Sat., Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. For more information on Polaris Project Limited, or this special event, contact Steve Vought at (719)201-9019.
