Larry Anderson, the High Plains Little League president, welcomed everyone to the season’s opening ceremonies. Everyone was excited from the “oh so cool” Junior Team to the “itty bitty” T-Ball Teams.There was a sea of colors as everyone lined out on the field. Anderson introduced guests. Dr. Wade Housewright, Scott Parker of Parker Fencing and Pat Jeffery, pastor of Grace Community Church. Doc Meeske of Custom Excavating and Dale Jackson, the head baseball coach of Falcon High School were unable to attend.Jeffery gave the invocation, and the Falcon High School Color Guard presented a showing of the colors. The Top of The Rockies Chorus sang the national anthem, and Anderson introduced the High Plains Little League Board: Chris Howard, vice-president; Irene Brown, vice-president (Elbert); Teresa Archuleta, secretary; Byron Seaman, treasurer; Tim Thomas, player agent; Lance McDowell safety/scheduler; and Nancy Thomas, information officer.Thomas introduced the teams, and Chris Howard led the kids in the Little League pledge. The first pitches were thrown by Dr Wade Housewright, Scott Parker, Pat Jeffery and Lance McDowell.There are 180 kids who have signed up to pay. The league is hoping to have a summer league at the conclusion of the normal season.
