The New Falcon Herald sponsored a softball team that competed in the “Mile High Saloon Shootout” tournament at the 4 Diamond Sports Complex in Colorado Springs July 7 and July 8.The NFH team made it to the championship game, and lost it in a heated(temperatures were also hot) close one – 25-24 – to Acme Pawn, a team they had beaten earlier in the tournament by a 17-10 score.”We chased them throughout that game all seven innings,” said Eddie Avedikian. “They scored six (runs) on us in the first inning and we answered with seven. By the fourth inning, we were down 19-7, and, with two outs, we put up 12 runs to tie it up 19 a piece. In the seventh inning, we were down four runs and came up with three. With a man on first and second, it was over. Our guys were disappointed, but we were all pretty happy on how we fought back.”It was a good fight – a real shootout – and we’re proud to have been a sponsor – congrats from the NFH team! The Mile High Saloon in Colorado Springs sponsored the tournament. There were six teams and two divisions.Ty Reuter, owner of Alpine Vision, is sponsoring the team’s next tournament, which is the State Games tournament Aug. 4 and Aug. 5 at the Skyview Sports Complex.
