Pikes Peak Soap Box Derby rolls in

The Pikes Peak Soap Box Derby rolls into Colorado Springs on Sunday, June 12. The goals of the program are to promote families working together to teach kids some of the basic skills of workmanship along with the spirit of competition and the perseverance to continue a project to completion. Boys and girls ages 8 through 17 are eligible to compete. The winners will go to an expenses paid trip to Akron, Ohio to compete in the All American Soap Box Derby. Race Day is Sunday, June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to finish in downtown Colorado Springs on Costilla Street between Wahsatch and El Paso. Racers can go to the Pikes Peak Soap Box Derby Web site at http://ppsbd.com to register for the event. Proof of age is required. Deadline for registration is May 14. The racer must build his or her own car with help and advice from adults as needed, and they must build the car using a kit purchased from All-American Soap Box Derby.
