A cookbook titled “Commerative 60th Ride Cookbook,” has been published by the Pikes Peak Range Riders. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook, which sells for $25, will help support the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center as well as the Special Rodeo that is held during the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.Author Tony Cuchares and co-author Loren Whittemore included about 350 recipes in the cookbook. Cuchares, a third generation Colorado Springs native said, “The cookbook is pretty interesting all the way through.” The pages are filled with drawings and photos commemorating the sixty-year history of the range riders, as well as a tribute to the range rider charter members, cooking tips and recipes. Cuchares said his favorite recipe, Uncle Gwedo’s Old Time Spaghetti Sauce, is included in the cookbook. The group spent $9,500 to publish the cookbook, Cuchares said, and with rapid sales the cost was paid for within four days.Currently, the cookbook can be purchased at Calhan Western Store, Natural Healthcare Center for Animals and the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Cuchares said he plans to have the cookbook available for purchase in other area stores soon. To purchase a copy contact Cuchares at 391-4424.
