This Special Collections exhibit highlights the career of Benjamin Franklin, who is famous for his achievements in science, philosophy and statesmanship. The exhibit will include many books, ephemera, postage stamps and artifacts depicting the great American and his work. Of special note will be an inscribed copy of his famous book “Experiments and Observations on Electricity,” 4th edition, published in London in 1769. Cascade Ave.This display,”Zebulon Montgomery Pike’s Life & Legacy,” presents fascinating facts about the namesake of Pike’s Peak. For instance, did you know Pike was just 17 when he saved his father’s life? Or, when Pike was taken captive as a “spy” by the Mexican army just a few miles south of Colorado Springs, all of his journals were confiscated and held captive for over 100 years in Mexico City.
