Pikes Peak Library District expanding to Falcon

The Pikes Peak Library District will offer Falcon and other eastern El Paso County communities a new library. High Prairie Branch Library will be adjacent to Farmers State Bank. Dee Fowler, PPLD Foundation executive officer, said the PPLD has received great support from the community.”Who has been wonderful is Farmers State Bank with the Bucks for Books campaign. They really helped get the ball rolling,” Fowler said. The facility will be about 6,000 square feet, with a collection of 14,000 items. Because the High Plains Branch Library will be part of the PPLD network, a “floating collection” of 1.3 million items will be available to patrons. “Your book is just a click away,” Fowler said.It will provide 10 public computers, six public laptops, the Farmers State Bank meeting room, teen area, drive-up book drop, study rooms, exhibit space and fireside reading area. Fowler said a ground breaking is planned for the spring.
