A Snapshot Day will be held at the High Prairie Library all day Thursday, April 14. A PPLD board member will be present between 10 a.m. and noon. PPLD staff will be engaged in the storytelling process, taking photos and short video clips of popular programs and patrons engaged in using library materials. Each library will post a photo montage of the day in the life of their library and particular location. The photos will also be posted on PPLD’s Flickr account.First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. Genealogy research classesHigh Prairie Library is now offering free genealogy research classes on the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The first half of the meeting features a presentation on a pertinent research topic. The second half is spent working on individual research problems. The class features a mix of experienced and novice researchers, said Rhonda Curtis, High Prairie Library clerk. The April 5 meeting will include a presentation on helpful Internet sites and how to utilize them. “In April, we’re going to be looking at worldwide Web sites that people can research with,” Curtis said. “In May, we’ll probably be looking at brick wall solutions, so each month the topic will change.” For childrenFor childrenToddler TimeIn this program, 1- and 2-year-old children, with a favorite adult, participate in nursery rhymes, music and movement and listen to a few short books.
