Peyton Oktoberfest brings in the people

By Coben Scott

The fourth annual Peyton Oktoberfest was held Oct. 12 in Peyton Junction. Music filled the air as people were welcomed at the entrance by a large Oktoberfest banner and an archway that read “Wilkommen!” The event’s mascots, Duke and Daisy, young HighPark cows, greeted the guests.

An axe-throwing contest was set up alongside the Biergarten, which featured FH Beerworks, the Latigo Winery and plentiful food trucks. Appropriately, Pretzel Kings (a German-themed food truck) was the most popular of the day.

On the stage, there was live music and a variety of performers. Polka and folk were the main genres playing throughout the event. About noon, the kids participated in a dance tournament. Kids were split up in teams and danced to The Chicken Dance. At the end, each team was awarded a prize and a $5 coffee gift card (maybe for the parents).

Next to the stage, a keg throw and cornhole game entertained the crowd. For the keg throw, participants were tasked with throwing beer kegs as far as they could.

As more people imbibed in the drinks, the dance space began to fill and lines to food trucks got longer. Tomcat Entertainment offered family fun with balloon animals, face painting and a clown. Next to them was a shaded cover and below was a pen full of Australian Shepherd puppies for sale. Throughout the stretch of the event, numerous crowds were plentiful and fun activities were abundant.

A good crowd enjoyed the festivities and food trucks at Peyton’s Oct. 12 Oktoberfest celebration.

These signs welcomed people to the Peyton Oktoberfest, where they enjoyed beer, wine, music, a kids’ dance contest and much more.

Several musicians took the stage and played mainly polka and folk music.
