According to a Feb. 11 Gazette article, the Colorado General Assembly has renamed a portion of U.S. Highway 24 in Falcon (from Garrett Road to Elbert Road) the SGM James Gregory Ryan Sartor Memorial Highway. Sponsors of the resolution were Rep. Timothy Geitner, R-Colorado Springs; and Sen. Paul Lundeen, R-Monument.Sartor spent 14 years as a Special Forces Green Beret, and had been in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned a plethora of medals for his service.On July 13 last year, Sartor died from injuries when his unit was attacked in Afghanistan. Funding for the signage will come from grants, donations and gifts made out to the Colorado Department of Transportation.Sartorís widow and three children live in Falcon.
