Home Services has opened in Black Forest, providing an array of services that include home health care, assisted living, respite service, adult day care and a residential facility.Kathy Rogers, director of marketing and admissions, said the company strives to ìoffer choicesî to seniors and others in need of assistance. ìItís not what we need; itís what they need,î she said. ìYou donít want someone to move out of their house into ours if they can stay at their own home, so then all we do is assist them. We are medical and non-medical, so sometimes itís just the housecleaning and driving them to appointments.î Rogers said clients can choose their own caregivers ñ by gender, race or language, for example. They also provide routine care, such as blood pressure checks, at the office, if home visits are inconvenient.Clients can keep their own doctor or use a doctor affiliated with Home Services.Currently, there are five residents living at the Black Forest home ñ known as Popaís. There is room for seven. Rogers said they encourage residents to bring a few pieces of their own furniture. ìItís hard when you move from your own home into a bigger facility; it can feel like an institution,î she said. At the open house, representatives from other companies talked about their services.Rogers said they have plentiful opportunities for volunteering.
