No matter, the fans love ’em

Editor’s note: Because of the NFH deadline and the timing of the World Series, we won’t know the outcome of the Rockies vs. Boston Red Sox series prior to our press date. But it doesn’t matter, because win or lose Colorado fans love their sports – and they’ll be wearing purple for a long time to come! We hope the fans aren’t “seeing red.”8.5 million hits: Is it a statistic from the Colorado Rockies baseball season? No, it’s the number of online hits reported in the first hour the World Series tickets (for the Rockies home games) were available via the Internet. The Web gurus didn’t plan for it, and the computer system crashed the first day.Ticket sales for the Rockies vs. the Boston Red Sox in Denver resumed the following day, and it took only two and a half hours to sell out. Many fans found themselves in front of the TV at home instead of the bleachers at Coors Field. Yet, others settled for the bar crowd – fans seeking other fans – surely there is strength in numbers. Rockies fans in Falcon gathered at Frankie’s, Too, where three projector screens provided easy viewing.The NFH covered the first night at Frankie’s, and, despite the Red Sox dominance, fans were optimistic and looking forward.
