New options for home schooled kids

School District 49’s Rocky Mountain Classical Academy will include a home education program for grades 1 through 8. Beginning Aug. 14, the program will share location with the academy at Piros Drive, east of the intersection of Powers and Constitution. Emphasis will be on hands-on, interactive classes with Core Knowledge curriculum as the foundation. Program highlights:

  • Open to all Pikes Peak area home educators, regardless of district of residence
  • A convenient, one-day-a-week program for each grade level (Monday – Thursday)
  • Clear outline of content and homework expectations for each class
  • Occasional field trips
  • Optional standardized testing
  • Character education and goal setting in partnership with the home
  • Classes include science, language arts, critical thinking, pre-logic or logic, math reasoning, physical education; special classes may include art, music or life skills
The academy is currently hiring part and full-time teachers.
